The second week of S.O.S. Climate Waterfront workshop and the participants started working intensively on their concepts.
On Monday 30th May, the group was guided to KTH campus where they explored the art,
architecture and history of the university.
The following days the groups studied individually. They worked on a first approach of their project, starting from an analysis of each area. The study areas are Värtahamnen, Frihamnen and Lövholmen. The participants are divided in 6 study groups and they are working on one area (two groups on each area). This week’s focus was the area and its characteristics as well as a first concept of the final masterplan. The participants gave great attention to the current situation of each area, the problems to address, the risks from climate change and possible solutions. The groups worked in the KTH facilities.
On Thursday 2nd June, Intercult organised a city excursion were the international participants explored interesting exhibitions at the city museums. They visited the Kulturhuset Stadsteatern and had an interesting guide to the exhibition “Visions for a fast growing, sustainable city of Stockholm”. Next stop was the Architecture Museum ArkDes where they explored the exhibition “Architecture of the future in the North of Sweden” and enjoyed a lunch with one of the best views of the city. Finally, they visited the internationally famous museum Fotografiska Stockholm where we introduced of the sustainability and creative ideas behind Fotografiska Stockholm and Fotografiska New York. The day ended visiting the astonishing current exhibitions of the museum of Andy Warhol, Elizaveta Porodina and others.
On Friday 3rd June, the participants presented their concepts and got useful feedback from their colleagues as well as the project’s coordinator Pedro Ressano Garcia.
In the afternoon the participants met at the School of Architecture building at KTH-campus, with Prof. Erik Stenberg, Architect and saw the ongoing exhibition of MSc-student projects. Finally they had a great week ending with view of the city from the top floor of the Architecture School.
