Don´t miss State of the Union speech 2020!
In September each year, the President of the European Commission gives a speech on the state of the EU (SOTU). This year, Ursula von der Leyen will give her first speech to the Commission as President on the future of Europe and her thoughts on the past year.
Don’t miss this years speech by president von der Leyen, on Wednesday 16/9 at 09.00.
The speech will live broadcasted on several digital channels.
The speech mainly addresses Europe’s future and what challenges and priorities that waits, but is also a review of the past year. A vision for the future will be presented and provide an insight into EU work and collaboration. The most pressing issues and challenges will be addressed, as well as ideas and proposals on how to build and shape the future of the EU.
The speech will be followed by a debate where the elected parliamentarians can comment and ask questions about the work of the Commission, and get answers from President von der Leyen. The parliamentarians can also highlight the european citizens’ demands and expectations.
The past year has been unique in many aspects. There are many important issues for the future, but also to look back on from this past year.
The Brexit negotiations, the climate issue, the rule of law and the EU’s voice in the world are some important issues, and not least what has particularly affected the year 2020; The corona pandemic and the way back from the crisis. How does the commission view the recovery fund and the long-term budget?
This is Europe’s chance to build a green, digital and healthy future and shape a world after the corona crisis!
